How aligned are Mastery Predictive Assessments and the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP)?
Instructure’s research team recently evaluated the predictive validity of Mastery Predictive Assessments (MPAs) across Mississippi during the 2023–2024 school year. Analyzing data from over 7,000 students in grades 3–8 and high school, the study found strong correlations between students' performance on MPAs and their MAAP scores.

High predictive correlations: Correlation ranges of .75 to .89 for grades 3–8 and .71 to .80 for high school subjects, exceeding the .70 threshold for strong predictive validity.

Strong classification accuracy: MPAs correctly identified student proficiency on state tests 79-87% of the time in grades 3–8 and 80% in high school, exceeding the 75% benchmark.
